I was at the library with our daughter reading magazines and I grabbed this month’s Cook’s Illustrated to look at. I was happy to find our dutch oven was still a recommended buy! This is a plug for a product we love in our house. I bought this dutch oven four years ago as a present for to Dave for our 8th wedding anniversary. I think I was I was going for theme of traditional Bronze/Pottery. We were really into making Beef Burgundy, and this is the perfect vessel.

The Tramontina Dutch Oven has been in our house almost four years – I double checked on Amazon! It holds the temperature well, easy to clean, can go from the stove to oven without a problem. It’s the perfect size for our lazy susan as well, because this thing is heavy/sturdy. I should use it more for frying since it has such nice high sides, but seems to take a while for it to heat up, BUT the heat doesn’t drop as quickly as it does with metal pots.

If you’re looking for a dutch oven that won’t break the bank, this one’s for you. I paid just a bit less in 2009 than the current Amazon price of $82ish dollars. I’d keep an eye on Walmart.com because they do sell it there for around $50.
