Picnic and Books at the Library
Hello Summer!!!! Our local library has a storytime picnic during the summer. So I packed up a lunch for the girls and I in our Sistema Lunch Cubes. It was very hot and sunny out, but the girls and I had a blast before we went inside to pick up some books.
The girls completed their weekly activities for Summer Reading Club and then picked up some more “Magic Treehouse” and “Boxcar Children” books. As we were checking our books out, the librarian suggested the ‘Canadian Flyer‘ series by Frieda Wishinsky. It’s very similar to “Magic Treehouse” and “Boxcar Children,” but all the action takes place in a magic sleigh and teaches you about Canadian history – pretty cool right? Of course I couldn’t leave the library without getting a book. I requested the America’s Test Kitchen: “Comfort Food Makeovers” book from another library. I need to buy this, and make every recipe in it. Our family would eat everything in this book, from appetizers to desserts. Tip: If you’re not sure you want to spend the money on a recipe book, check it out at the library first and if you like it, go buy it. It’s also a great way to try foods from other cultures.
