Chocolate and Butterscotch Leopard spots
I had some fun making these for a leopard cake! I was going to use butter cream to make the spots directly on the cake, but I thought some chocolate spots would be more fun to attempt.
I melted some semi-sweet chocolate chips with a bit of shortening in the microwave. Start with 45 seconds and then in 20-30 second increments until smooth and glossy. Repeat with some butterscotch chips.
Make some blobs of chocolate on wax or parchment paper, and shape with a toothpick or spoon. Allow to cool, and then repeat with small dollops of butterscotch. Once everything is cool, gently remove from paper and use to decorate.
Hoping the inside of the cake is as cool as these spots! (If not I got some good practice at making one-celled organisms…..)
